Prince William has given his full support to King Charles’s decision to strip Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor of his royal titles and honours.
According to GB News, the Royal Family, including the Prince of Wales, stands united behind the King’s leadership in this matter.
Though the decision was made by King Charles himself, it reportedly received the backing of the wider family, marking a collective effort to preserve the dignity of the monarchy.
Buckingham Palace Confirms Andrew’s Loss of Titles and Residence
Earlier this evening, Buckingham Palace issued an official statement:
“His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him. Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

The statement confirmed that Andrew has lost the right to use his former royal titles — Prince, Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, Baron Killyleagh, and the style “His Royal Highness.” Additionally, his honours, including the Order of the Garter and the Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, have been revoked.
Tension Within the Family and Recent Encounters
The Prince and Princess of Wales are set to move into Forest Lodge later this year, located close to Royal Lodge, Andrew’s current residence.
Their proximity comes after reports of a frosty exchange between Prince William and his uncle during the funeral of Katharine, Duchess of Kent, in September. Witnesses noted that Andrew appeared to laugh, while William remained silent during the tense moment.
The King’s Swift and Strategic Decision
Sources suggest King Charles acted decisively following recent developments that made it necessary to move quickly and efficiently. The process reportedly required extensive legal and constitutional consultation, as well as cooperation from the wider Royal Family.
While King Charles could have sought to abolish the Dukedom of York through an Act of Parliament, he chose instead to act within his Royal Prerogative — a move designed to avoid taking up Parliamentary time while achieving the same result.

Protecting Beatrice and Eugenie Amid the Fallout
Despite the changes, Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will retain their titles as Her Royal Highnesses, in accordance with their status as granddaughters of Queen Elizabeth II.
Amid the controversy, the King is reportedly determined to protect his nieces, ensuring that their royal roles and reputations remain intact.
Andrew has continued to deny all allegations against him, but the ongoing scandal has increasingly been viewed as a distraction for the monarchy. King Charles’s decision — supported firmly by Prince William — signals a clear intent to uphold the integrity of the Royal Family while offering compassion to those affected.
