Prince William and Princess Kate share sh0cking statement following ‘terrible tragedy’

King Charles has expressed his “deep shock” following a devastating attack outside a synagogue in Manchester that left two people dead and several others seriously injured.

The incident took place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Police confirmed that a car was deliberately driven at members of the public before a man was stabbed outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall. Armed officers shot the attacker at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police said they were first alerted at 9:31 a.m. and quickly declared PLATO, the national emergency protocol for a marauding terrorist attack. Worshippers inside the synagogue were safely evacuated, while bomb disposal units were also called to the area amid fears the suspect may have been carrying a device. Authorities have not confirmed whether any explosives were found.

In a message shared on behalf of himself and Queen Camilla, the King said:
“My wife and I have been deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the horrific attack in Manchester, especially on such a significant day for the Jewish community. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this appalling incident and we greatly appreciate the swift actions of the emergency services.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales also issued a joint statement:
“Our thoughts are with the victims and the families of the terrible attack at Heaton Park Synagogue. The fact that this tragedy occurred on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it all the more shocking. We are thinking of the entire community as well as the emergency responders who attended this terrible incident.” They signed their message simply, “W & C.”

Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was in Copenhagen at the time, confirmed he would fly back to London for an emergency COBRA meeting. In his own statement, he said:
“I’m appalled by the attack at a synagogue in Crumpsall. The fact that this has taken place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it all the more horrific. My thoughts are with the loved ones of all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services and all the first responders.”

As the investigation continues, police have urged the public to remain calm but vigilant. The wider Manchester community has been left reeling as tributes pour in for the victims and their families.
