Meghan Markle’s pal launches fresh at:tack on Royal Family

A close friend of the Duchess of Sussex has accused the Royal Family of hypocrisy, claiming Meghan Markle was left unsupported while other royals were shielded.

Bryony Gordon, a British journalist and podcast host who befriended Meghan early in her relationship with Prince Harry, voiced her frustration in the Daily Mail.

“With each sordid allegation, I have become more and more furious that so little was done to help Meghan as she struggled with life in the Royal Family, while so much was done to protect Prince Andrew,” Gordon wrote.

Meghan’s Struggles Inside the Monarchy

In her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan revealed how the Royal Family failed to support her mental health during her time as a working royal. Gordon echoed these concerns, pointing out the stark contrast in how Meghan was treated compared with other royals.

“Each time we meet, or exchange texts about life, I wonder what it says about the world that she could be so vilified and trolled, while other members of the royal family seem to have been given a free pass to behave as badly as they want,” she added.

Renewed Scrutiny on Prince Andrew

Gordon’s remarks come as Prince Andrew once again faces renewed public attention. A new book by historian Andrew Lownie, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, has drawn interest in recent weeks.

The book details Andrew’s service in the Falklands, his controversial business dealings, and the financial means behind the York family’s lifestyle. It also recounts their long-scrutinized connection with Jeffrey Epstein.

Prince Andrew’s Fall from Public Life

The Duke of York stepped back from royal duties in 2019 after a disastrous BBC Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis about his ties to Epstein. In 2021, he was stripped of his royal and military titles. Andrew continues to deny all allegations made against him.
