Meghan Markle has made a heartfelt confession about the toll of being away from her children, Archie and Lilibet, in the new season of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
The eight-episode lifestyle and cooking program, which gives viewers a closer look into the Duchess’s life in Los Angeles with Prince Harry and their two young children, reveals some of the most candid remarks she has made since leaving royal duties.
During one episode, Markle reflected on the longest time she had been separated from Archie, six, and Lilibet, four. Speaking with Queer Eye star Tan France, who admitted how hard he finds it to be away from his children, Meghan replied: “Oh, I know. The longest I went without being around our kids was almost three weeks. I was not well.”
The Duchess and her family moved to the United States in 2020, after stepping down as senior working royals. Since then, Prince Harry has made multiple trips back to the U.K., largely tied to his ongoing lawsuits. Meghan, however, has not returned since September 2022, when she and Harry traveled for a charity event. That trip coincided with the death of Queen Elizabeth II, leading the couple to remain in Britain for a period of mourning.
On a lighter note, Markle also revealed what she misses most about her years in the U.K. — the variety of radio stations. She admitted that her favorite was Magic FM, a choice that drew a playful reaction from Tan France, who laughed: “Magic FM. Wow! Sorry to say this publicly, but that’s such a grandma station.”
Prince Harry has previously spoken of his own struggles with time apart from their children. In his memoir Spare, he described the days following his return from Balmoral after the Queen’s death as “difficult,” recalling: “For days and days we couldn’t stop hugging the children, couldn’t let them out of our sight.”
At the time of the late Queen’s passing, Meghan remained in Windsor, after the now-King Charles asked that Harry travel to Scotland alone.
Her remarks in With Love, Meghan show just how deeply the Sussexes’ life now centers on family. For Meghan, even a few weeks without Archie and Lilibet was enough to leave her “not well,” underscoring the powerful bond at the heart of her new life in California.
