King Charles & Queen Camilla Celebrated Their Decades-Long Love Story With Glowing Wedding Anniversary Portraits

King Charles and Queen Camilla are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary in a modern way.

The 76-year-old King and 77-year-old Queen marked the milestone on April 9, with their team sharing a new montage of their time together on Instagram.

Accompanied by the song “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)” by James Taylor, the tribute began with footage of the royal couple dancing and transitioned to photos from their Service of Prayer and Dedication at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, where their marriage was blessed in 2005.

The video also featured pictures of King Charles and Queen Camilla during their worldwide tours and attending various events across the U.K. Throughout the years, they were seen holding hands, exchanging loving glances, and sharing laughter in several heartwarming moments.

The reel featured the couple on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during their May 2023 coronation day and also showed them leaving The London Clinic together in January 2024 after the King’s surgery for an enlarged prostate. In February 2024, the palace revealed that the British monarch had been diagnosed with cancer following the procedure (though a spokesperson clarified that he does not have prostate cancer). The King’s cancer treatment is ongoing into this year.

The clip ended with a new portrait of the King and Queen, taken by Chris Jackson to mark their 20th wedding anniversary. The royals are currently on a tour of Italy, and the photos were taken at Villa Wolkonsky in Rome on April 7, their first day abroad.

“20 Happy Years!” the King’s office wrote beneath the video, accompanied by a white heart emoji.

This tribute wasn’t the only one for their anniversary. The account also shared a clip of The Royal Corps of Army Music performing “It Must Be Love” at Buckingham Palace on April 9.

An entrepreneur who had the chance to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla at a reception for the British-Italian community in Rome on April 8 shared with PEOPLE that their connection was clearly evident.

Dr. Paul Atkin, CEO of The Teatro San Cassiano Group, recalls, “As the event was concluding, I took a chance and softly wished them a happy anniversary. What followed was this beautiful, genuine smile that seemed to momentarily break through the formality of the occasion.”

He continues, “What I witnessed between King Charles and Queen Camilla was profound – they’re genuinely, deeply in love. There’s something extraordinarily moving about seeing that level of devotion, especially considering all they’ve weathered together.”

“What impressed me equally was their unwavering commitment to duty,” adds Atkin. “When you consider that King Charles is undergoing cancer treatment, the fact that they’re maintaining such a rigorous schedule of engagements speaks volumes about their dedication to service. They appeared genuinely energized rather than depleted by their royal duties.”

“It was an afternoon I’ll never forget – not just for the honor of meeting royalty, but for witnessing such authentic warmth, intellectual curiosity, and devotion to both duty and each other,” he reflects.
