King Charles ‘may force Prince Andrew out of Royal Lodge and gift estate to Queen Camilla’

Prince Andrew is facing eviction from Royal Lodge after King Charles stripped him of his security detail, according to reports. The Duke of York’s lease on the property is also set to expire

King Charles is reportedly trying to boot Prince Andrew out of Royal Lodge and gift it to Queen Camilla, as the Royal brothers’ property dispute rages on.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield has suggested that the Duke of York could be ousted by year’s end, particularly since Charles has stripped him of his security detail.

Speaking on TalkTV, she revealed: “The King is thinking long term and might want this property that he spent so much time with the Queen Mother in to leave for Queen Camilla, in case the worst happens.”

Andrew moved into the 31-room mansion, which he rents for £260,000 a year under a 75-year lease, with his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie in 2003. His loyal ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, joined him in 2008.

Ms Schofield further claimed that “Prince Andrew is right now a waste of resources” and that the King will argue that Andrew is not maintaining the property as per the 75-year lease, and should therefore be evicted. The lease requires the Duke to carry out repairs and allows him to pass the property on to his children.

It’s believed that King Charles recognises that Andrew’s occupation of a mansion, valued at least £30million, is damaging to the Royal Family’s image, and wants him to downsize to the five-bedroom Frogmore Cottage, reports the Express.

Andrew has been informed that the King will cease funding his 10-person security team after October, though a more cost-effective option is reportedly available.

If the lease were to be terminated, he would be entitled to the sum he has invested in refurbishing the property, which is said to be substantial.

In 2022, the Duchess of York purchased a £4million property in Belgravia, which is currently unoccupied.

Last year, she and Andrew offloaded their chalet in Verbier for a cool £19million.

Beatrice and Eugenie are both joyfully married with families and careers, making occasional appearances at Royal events.
