Princess Charlotte could be set to lose access to her royal title after a major change.

Princess Charlotte may face an unexpected shift in her royal status when her father, Prince William, eventually becomes King.

Although she is only ten years old, Charlotte is expected to play a significant role in the Royal Family in the future. As the daughter of a future monarch and the sister of Prince George — who is second in line to the throne — she remains an important member of the royal household.

While she may choose a career outside royal life after completing her education, she is still likely to become a working royal. However, the question of what title she will hold remains uncertain. When the monarchy transitions, Charlotte may find herself without a royal title at all.

This is because, once William becomes King, Prince George will most likely receive the title Prince of Wales. As a result, Charlotte would not be able to use the title Princess of Wales — and could be left without any official royal title.

Celebrity broadcaster OSSA previously explained: “By the time William is King of England, his eldest son George will be Prince of Wales. Her right to be Princess of Wales flies out the window when her brother gets the official title because a royal lady can only be a princess if she’s married to a prince or the daughter of a prince.”

In Charlotte’s case, when William takes the throne, she would be neither the daughter of a prince nor married to one, which means she would not have a claim to that title.

However, royal experts have pointed out that she could eventually become Princess Royal — a prestigious title traditionally granted to the monarch’s eldest daughter.

Currently, that title is held by Princess Anne. Charlotte would only be eligible to receive it once her father becomes King and only if Princess Anne is no longer alive at that time.
