Kate Middleton and Prince William Throw Pub Party to Celebrate Early Move-In to Their ‘Forever Home’

Prince William and Princess Kate have marked their move into their new Windsor home with a heartfelt gesture — a thank-you party for the team who made it happen ahead of schedule.

According to the Daily Mail, the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 43, hosted the celebration on Friday night at The York Club, a private members-only pub for residents and employees of the Crown Estate. The couple reportedly wanted to personally thank everyone who worked “tirelessly” to prepare their new residence, Forest Lodge, in time for their move.

“The couple very sweetly just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has worked tirelessly to help,” a source told the outlet.

Guests included builders, staff, and contractors who had been involved in the renovation and relocation process. William and Kate were said to have served drinks and food themselves, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere as they expressed their gratitude.

The family’s move to Forest Lodge came earlier than expected. Builders had accelerated the schedule so the Waleses could settle in before Bonfire Night on November 5, rather than just before Christmas as originally planned. Bonfire Night — also known as Guy Fawkes Night — commemorates the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605 and is marked with fireworks, bonfires, and traditional British treats like toffee apples.

News of the move first broke on November 1, when The Telegraph reported that the couple had relocated with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis during the children’s half-term school break.

Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom Georgian mansion in Windsor Great Park, is described by sources as the family’s “forever home” — a place they plan to stay even after William becomes king. The new residence marks a fresh chapter for the Wales family following a difficult few years that included the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 and cancer diagnoses for both King Charles and Princess Kate in 2024.

The Princess of Wales shared earlier this year that she is now in remission, while the King’s treatment is ongoing.

An insider told the Daily Mail that leaving Adelaide Cottage, their previous Windsor home, was as much an emotional move as a practical one. “Every part of Adelaide Cottage, sadly, had an unpleasant memory associated with it,” they said. “It’s a lovely house and they started with such high hopes, but in the end they experienced some of their most challenging times there as a family. Little wonder that William feels like it was cursed.”

For the Waleses, Forest Lodge represents more than just a new address — it’s a symbol of recovery, renewal, and hope for the future.
